About The Author

Willem Meiners

Willem Meiners

Willem Meiners (1949, Amsterdam) was a newspaper editor in Europe prior to emigrating to the U.S. on Thanksgiving Day, 1991. He became a bookseller, a helicopter aviator, and a radio station owner. Together with his wife, Alice, he lives in Maine.

Among his earlier books are The Dutch Touch,  an account of America's best kept secret, i.e. how deeply Dutch today's United States is, and a biography of US president Warren Harding (1921-1923).  Together with two crewmates, in 2007, he established a new aviation record by flying in a small helicopter from Barrow, Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina, and back, a distance of 40,000 miles.
